1981 vw rabbit pickup the motor has been replaced with a rebuilt 1.6 with hydraulic lifters only have 300 miles on rebuild. Rebuilt injector pump, new radiator,struts, exhaust and water pump. The bed and tailgate are rhino coated but also has bed liner.Factory air conditioning but need charged.

The truck runs and drives. All the lights and turn signals etc... work. Hvac controls work. The bad - the truck has a lot of rust and would take a lot of work to repair. Im also including a 1982 caddy shell with cabriolet front clip with the sale. This shell is in much better condition. The front clip has no rust and what's on the rest of the truck is repairable. I have titles for both.

FOR SALE:  1981 Rabbit Pickup for restoration. Not running. Bad diesel engine. LX model with 5spd. AC equip truck. Original grille and front bumper. Does not appear to have ever been hit in the front. Very kool camper shell. Some dents along both sides. Tailgate dented. Has rust to floors and some drivers side lower rocker rust. Rust at rear window. Windshield/cowl not rusted. Good strut towers. Interior needs pulled and clean what is salvageable and replace what’s not. 1200 for the truck. Message with any questions. Bummers:

Stiff window cranks

Steering column bearings need replacement, so the steering wheel rattles a little bit

Drivers seat belt buckle broken (I use passenger buckle)

Noted rusty bits

Likely due for fresh timing belt/water pump/pulleys

Front drivers fender took a small whack, but the rest of the body is quite straight for a pickup truck!

Fresh timing belt, injection pump service, thermostat/coolant flush, new carpet & seat covers, Solowerks coilovers up front, 3” drop plates + Corvette air shocks in the rear, and upgraded stereo.

Paint isn’t perfect, but she’s 40+ years old and still looking damn good. Odometer doesn’t work.

Unfortunately the time has come to sell my pride and joy for the last 22 years. 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit Pickup, 165,000 original miles, Gas Engine (I think it is stuck) 5 Speed Manual Transmission, great body, no rust other than passenger door and a little in driver rocker. Bed is perfect. Hood is bent and driver taillight is busted. Put a 350 or LS or 4BT Cummins is this unit and you will have the baddest Volkswagen Rabbit Truck around. Have the original owners manual. This is my 1983 Volkswagen rabbit pickup truck. This truck is on coil overs in the front and drop plates in the back. It’s got new shifter link new tires new head lights after market stereo and 2 6 by 9s in it. New heater core. It’s got a 1.6l diesel in it. sadly the oil rings went out so will need trailer. Motor will run but try’s to be a run away diesel￼ if you are driving down the highway for 15 minutes. Transmission is good shifts really good through all gears. Love this truck I will be sad to see this thing go. 4500$ obo. Open for trade

Its an old car, expect it to need fixes here and there. But overall a strong runner with a good cooling system. Previous owner made some bubba mods for cold air intake but it sounds good!
